Use of 110V or 230V Equipment on siteFor many years, the use of 110V CTE (centre tap earthed) and other low voltage systems in the UK has been encouraged in harsh environments such as construction sites and has long been recognised as good practice in such circumstances. Guidance on reduced low voltage systems and extra low voltage systems is provided in BS 7671. *Waranty- All our transformers are maunfactured using the finest materials and are subject to stringent testing before leaving the factory. If there is a manufacturing fault in a site transformer bought from us, we will refund you the purchace price. You simply need to return the transformer to us (see contact page for address) with the original receipt and after we assess the fault, assuming it is a manufactuing fault, we will credit you the cost of the item. What is VA?The wattage rating (or VA rating, these ratings are interchangeable - see the FAQ entry on the subject) specified on tool and site transformers is in actuality an intermittent or tool rating unless specified as a 'continuous rating' Intermittent or tool ratingPortable tool transformers are designed to run tools intermittently and rest between uses. Intermittent use is defined as 5 minutes continuous use and 15 minutes of inactivity. If you have an application that requires a continuous load on the transformer then you need to calculate the load at approximately 60% of the transformers capabilities. Continuous ratingSite lighting and electric heating coils are applications that draw continually and therefore… Airlink transformers have a continuous load rating included in the specifications for this purpose. Eg. Airlink Transformer’s ST3300/2 : 3.3kVA (3300W) portable tool transformer has a continuous VA (W) rating at 2000VA (2kVA)(2000W). Approximately 60% of the intermittent rating. Site lighting requiring 2000W will draw continuously from your transformer and you will require a transformer that is rated at or above 3300W (3.3kVA). Push to reset thermal overload cut-outAll Airlink 110V and 240V portable site transformers are fitted with re-settable trip switched. Drawing above the VA rating of your transformer will trip your transformer. The amount of power drawn from an overloaded transformer will be less than if used within the recommended rating and your equipment will not perform to it’s full capacity. As well as reducing the capabilities of the equipment this will also damage and contribute to the ultimate failure of tools and equipment. Our site transformers marked as British built are manufactured in the UK using British steel and high quality copper wire. Housed in reinforced fiberglass cases and conforming to British Standards BSEN61558 & BS4343. These are safety isolation site transformers of the highest quality. On the occasions you are working your transformer hard you need to know that it is going to provide you the power you require and that it is going to work for you for years to come. If you require 110V portable tool or site transformer manufactured to your own specification please contact us for an obligation free quote.
